The nature park extends over 52,000 ha in the south of Lower Saxony between the rivers Weser and Leine and surrounded by the nature parks Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln, Münden, Teutoburger Wald/Eggegebirge as well as the national park Harz. The Solling-Vogler Nature Park is mainly covered by beech and spruce trees, herbs grow in the deciduous forests, in some places there are oaks and also rare plants such as sundew, striped fern and rare orchid species. Ferns, seed plants, mosses and lichens complete the flora. The fauna is typical of the area, with red deer, wild boar and various species of birds.
In addition to a stroll through the nature, there are some sights for an excursion. In Nienover there is a reconstructed medieval house, the Hochsollingturm tower offers a wonderful view. Animal lovers will meet Exmoor ponies, Heck cattle and red cattle in the Reiherbach valley. More forest dwellers can be found in the Neuhaus Wildlife Park. A special highlight is the nature reserve high moor Mecklenbruch near Silberborn.
