The former Backåkra manor house is situated between Löderup's lido and Sandhammaren beach on the Swedish Baltic coast. In 1957, the UN Secretary General Dan Hammarskjöld bought the estate as a summer residence. After Hammarskjöld's death, Backåkra became the property of the Svenska Turstföreningen (Svenska Turstföreningen Hiking Association), which established a museum in the building to commemorate the politician's life and work.

Backåkra is embedded in the beautiful Baltic Sea landscape. The farmstead is separated from the sea by a pine forest close to the coast with endless dunes. Close to Backåkra is an extraordinary place. A stone circle marks an old meditation place, which today is often used as a setting for weddings and other celebrations. The Midsummer festival in Backåkra is especially lovely when families from the surrounding area come together at the stone circle to celebrate.
