Reine with its classical red huts, snow mountains and a crystal-clear bay is everything that you can image while thinking about traditional fishing village in northern Norway.
Reine is an old spectacular fishing village situated on Moskenesøya island where grand Lofoten peaks and the Arctic Ocean are close neighbors. It is a popular tourist destination for travelers, artists and climbers because of its remarkable scenery with red-colored fishing huts, fjord and mountain around.
Current population of the village is only about 300 people. However, as in a typical fishing village you will find here a lot of fishing boats, drying on racks fish heads and noisy seagulls in the sky. Also, there is an art museum, tourist information, restaurants, cafes and one of the only supermarkets in this part of Lofoten.
Best viewpoint of Reine from above is located on the top of Reinebringen. It is a famous mountain peak on the west side of the village. Reinebringen can be reached by a hike from the shoreline. The view from there is mesmerizing!
