Oulanka National Park was established in 1956. This park in the Northern Ostrobothnia and it's surface area is covering 270 square kilometres.
Oulanka National Park is one of the most popular national parks in Finland. Karhunkierros (Finland's well-known hiking route) is located in this park. The river Oulankajoki runs throught the park. You will discover a diverse flora, for example while hiking the famous Karhunkierros-Route (it is possible to be on the way for several days), or while canoeing or rafting.
The Visitor Center of the park is open all year long and provides guests with information about the park as well as guided tours. The natural landscape impresses with spectacular waterfalls, fast-flowing rapids and numerous suspension bridges that enable hikers to cross gorges and rivers.
Natural phenomena such as the Oulanka Canyon, the Rupakivi rocks, the Ristikallio cliffs, numerous rapids, the popular Kiutaköngäs as well as the new suspension bridges attract thousands of visitors every year.
