Wolf’s bane is one of the most poisonous plants in all of Europe and aconitum tauricum, the type which grows here, is no exception. It should not be even touched, let alone picked! The splendour and intense colouring of this flower should best be enjoyed from a distance. Although wolf’s bane grows in nearly all higher areas, it only appears dark blue in high-Alpine environments. Why? Well, many high-Alpine plants make use of enhanced colour pigment-formation to protect themselves against intense UV radiation!
