Der Brocken ist nicht nur der höchste, sondern zugleich einer der historisch bedeutendsten Berge Norddeutschlands. Mit seinen 1141 m ist er der höchste Berg im Harz und nicht nur durch Goethes Harzreise berühmt geworden, sondern auch als sagenhafter „Blocksberg”.
