On the north-western edge of Groningen, along the Reitdiep, a Maritime Quarter developed, where living and recreation flow seamlessly into one another. Colourful houses built in the Scandinavian style and situated along a pier or on the boardwalk lend a cheerful backdrop to the Reitdiephaven, excavated in 2007. The marina has 220 berths for regulars and passing trade. Naturally the port has every modern facility. The Reitdiephaven is situated along a 'standing mast route', which is a route that can be sailed without having to take down the mast. This sailing route goes from Delfzijl to the Frisian Lakes, the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Islands.Groningen city centre is close to the port, just 8 minutes away by bus. You can also take an 'electro-sloop' here; a chance to see the heart of the city from a very different perspective.
