High on the Goltstein Hill, the imposing Indemann is the symbol of the local inhabitants and their outlook for the future. Its modern architecture is a symbol of the region’s future technical potential. Its ever-changing colours (best seen at night) symbolise the systemic change that this lignite mining area has gone through, and its imposing stability represents the more than 10,000 years of inhabited history of this area. It is a 36-metre-tall icon with its upraised arm pointing towards the ever-changing landscape of the Inden open-cast mine. Viewers have a number of viewing platforms to choose from for spectacular panoramic views of the Indeland region.
