Østerlars Rundkirke is Bornholm's and Denmark's largest
Østerlars Rundkirke is also the most famous of the four Bornholm round churches and is among Bornholm's largest sights.
Østerlars Rundkirke - also called Saint Laurentius' church - considered to be the oldest of the four Bornholm round churches, although one does not know exactly when the churches were built.
Probably the church goes back to approx. 1150 - and as the other churches on Bornholm have been used both as a church and as a guard against enemies from the sea. The roof is first laid out much later, when the church has lost its importance as a defense building.
Open Nov 01, 2019 through Mar 31, 2020 from 09:00–14:45.
The church is wholly or partly closed every Sunday morning when service is held. The church is opened for visits as soon as possible after the service is held and no later than 12.30. It can also be expected that there are services on holidays.
