The remains of 704 known dead are buried together in the War Memorial, including 19 Austro-Hungarians and 4,705 dead who remained unknown. The War Memorial was built in 1938, based on a project by the architect, Giovanni Ceppi, and the sculptor, Giannino Castiglioni, replacing the old war cemetery, at the foot of Col di Lana. The building, with a Latin cross plant, has a cross of parallel brick parapets with overlapped, aligned rows of burial recesses closed by green marble plates with the name and rank of each dead soldier
