The Seelekopf, a mountain of the Allgäu Nagelfluh range, reaches a height of 1,663 m.

Adjacent to the Hochgrat, the Seelekopf rises on the municipal territory of Oberstaufen and about 1 km from the Austrian border. The mountain got its name from the Alpe Seele below, which in turn got it from a lake that is now silted up.

On the northern slope of the Seelekopf is the “Ureibe bei Steibis,” one of the oldest trees in Germany. On the summit, there is a summit cross made of steel, decorated with ornamental elements, which has replaced a wooden cross since 1986.

Since 1926, a Catholic mountain mass has been held annually on the last Sunday in August at the summit of the Seelekopf. The fallen from the two world wars from the municipality of Oberstaufen are commemorated. The Seelekopf can be reached from the Hochgrat via iron steps in 20 to 30 minutes.
