Grotta dello Smeraldo is a partly by the sea flooded cave which is located at the Amalficoast. The cave’s water is sparkling in azure shades, this fact can also be recognized in the cave’s name. The water surface is about 45x32 m large. There are stalactites at the top of the roof which is located about 24 m above sea level.
As the cave has no natural approach above the sea level, it was discovered by a fisherman only in 1932. It can be quickly reached by the Strada Statale 163 Amalfitana. At the roadside there is a small parking lot where an elevator takes the visitors to the boats, which bring them to the cave.
