The birthplace of Nicholas of Kues is now a museum and is located on the banks of the Moselle in Kues. Nicholas of Kues was one of the great universal scholars of the Renaissance: jurist, philosopher, theologian, astronomer and taught in many subjects. He was essentially influenced by his profession as priest and cardinal. He constantly looked for ways to God, but he realized that we cannot grasp God with our thinking.
On an exhibition area of approx. 2000 sqm, the museum provides information about the Palatinate habitats, ecological contexts and the relationship between man and nature. The differentiated museum educational offer includes events for all age groups.
The traditional craftsmanship of bell casting was still practiced here from 1770 until 2002. Today, the bell foundry is open to the public as a museum and, containing the fully preserved equipment, is a unique cultural heritage and industrial monument. Apart from the museum, the Kulturgiesserei offers further interesting services and facilities for young and old, and has thus developed into a popular meeting place.
