For this hike, we took the 7:59 train from Munich to Kochel am See where we transferred to Bus 9608 (direction Garmisch-Partenkirchen). We took Bus 9608 to our starting point - Krün (Bus Stop: Gh. Post/Cafe Kranzbach, Krün).
We crossed the Isar and then got on Route 12, the path which would lead us up to Schöttelkarspitze. At the beginning, the path winds through beautiful green forest. After about 2.5 hours of hiking we made it to Seinskopf, a nice spot with 360 degree views where we took a break for lunch.
After lunch, we continue up to Schöttelkarspitze which took us another 1.5 hours. The path up to the peak is rocky and steep, meaning that we earned our Gipfelbier.
After the peak, we took the path down to Soiernhaus, a moutain hut above the Soiernsee where we enjoyed more beer and had a swim in the Soiernsee. It's such a perfect place that we didn't want to leave :)
From the Soiernhaus, we took the Lakaiensteig back to Krün via the Fischbachalm. Since we had about 50 minutes to wait for the bus, we stopped at the Isar and soaked our tired feet.
At 19:51 we took the same bus as in the morning - Bus 9608 (direction Garmisch-Partenkirchen) - to Mittenwald where we connected to the train back to Munich.
It was an awesome hike, with even more awesome people! I will definitely be returning for a another chance to swim in the lake and conquer more peaks (Soiernspitze and Soiernschnied are next!)
