Mountain bikers can expect crisp climbs and fun single trails in the Zillertal. The bike region Zillertal Arena offers about 325 km of bike trails from the Zillertal to the Salzburg Pinzgau. At Isskogel, Pfitscherjoch and Wiesenalm bikers will find action-packed trails of all levels of difficulty. Eight of ten summer mountain railroads also conveniently offer mountain bike transport. The Zillertal is also part of the Bikeschaukel Tirol with two stages. An event that should not be missing from the calendar of any ambitious biker is the Zillertal Bike Challenge.

From the Zillertal out into the world

As one of the most popular excursion destinations in all of Tyrol, the Zillertal is much visited by outdoor sports enthusiasts in both winter and summer. The large selection of tour options and the truly magnificent setting are captivating. The alpine landscape shows one of its most beautiful sides here.

If the Zillertal itself is the holiday destination of many travellers, you should not limit your mountain bike tours to it, because there are also some great peaks and remote valleys all around that want to be explored.

In the centre of the region, Fügen is a wonderful starting point. From there you can set off on a real round trip on the trails. For example, a challenging MTB trail leads from Fügen into the neighbouring Alpbach Valley. Or you can pedal hard and cycle to the Spieljoch with a detour to the Geolsalm and Gartalm.

Further south, Zell am Ziller and Mayerhofen are absolute mountain bike strongholds. From there, countless tours start into the surrounding mountains. Flowing single trails, challenging mountain bike routes with steep climbs as well as beginner-friendly panoramic trails await you here. On the Great Penkentour you will climb up to 2100 m over a distance of 40 km! Respect whoever overcomes the total of 1991 metres in altitude and makes it to the summit of the Penken.

The popular Bike Trail Tirol, a circular route through the region, also leads through the Zillertal and gives you the most beautiful impressions of the valley formed by the glacier.

Bike trip with the family

Young MTB riders also dream of reaching the heights. But the Alps around the Zillertal are usually still a bit too big for the kids. But they don't have to miss out on the adventure. The 31 km long Zillertal Cycle Path runs almost completely flat along the Ziller River. Between Strass and Mayrhofen you can let off steam with the whole family and enjoy the sun. The playgrounds along the route provide variety in between. Pack a picnic and experience a great day with your children. But even the most diligent cyclists get tired at some point - if the tour is too long, you can finish the round with the Zillerbahn.

More mountain bike trails, more challenges

Your condition is already top built and you are in the Zillertal not only for pleasure, but looking for a real challenge? As part of the exclusive bike event "Zillertal Bike Challenge" you have to overcome 200 km over 10,000 hm in three days.

You still need some training? Then you will also find good technique-oriented MTB trails around Gerlos, for example to the Isskogel. Here you will find the trails Iss-Flow, Iss-Shore and Iss-Though with flowing lines, steep turns, drops and everything your downhill heart desires. You can take the train to the start of the trails near the mountain station and concentrate completely on the descent.

Whatever trail you are looking for - easy, medium or difficult - single trail, downhill trails or climb-oriented - the Zillertal is a great MTB destination that never ceases to amaze. It's worth it to stop by here more often with your bike!
