Lookout towers in Finland

The Tarassiinlahti birdwatching tower by Lake Pien-Rautjärvi has won the inland series of the Tornien taisto (“battle of the towers”) birdwatching competition many times.

The Lake Pien-Rautjärvi area represents the verdant rural landscape at its best. There are a large number of waterfowl and waders at the northern end of the lake in spring.

The finest raised bog landscape in Western Finland opens up from Huidankeidas bird watching tower. 

Puijo Tower is located on the top of the Puijo hill and offers outstanding 360-degree view over the surrounding forests, City of Kuopio and Lake Kallavesi.   

 The lookout tower located next to Hotel Tallukka offers stunning views of both Lake Päijänne and Lake Vesijärvi.

The Ski Jump towers are the most famous landmarks of the city of Lahti.

Lupinlahti bay is a very diverse bird bay, located about 2.5 kilometers from the center of Hamina. The tower is built on two levels and the first floor is wheelchair accessible.

The accessible bird tower on Mustansaarenkeidas overlooks a wide raised bog landscape.

The Kirkkojärvi lake bird tower is located near the center of Hamina on the Kirkkojärvi nature trail, a valuable bird protection area. The bird tower is located in a rare and ecologically valuable wetland of the Natura 2000 bird protection program. The bird tower offers bird watchers the opportunity to see a diverse nesting area of up to 60 species of birds. The signposts introduce the birds of the reedbed and pool such as the Western Marsh Harrier and the Eurasian Bittern and provide informaton about the Kirkkojärvi lake as a wetland. From the center of Hamina, you can walk along the Kirkkojärvi nature trail to the Kirkkojärvi bird tower. The bird tower can also be your starting point for a 6km nature trail tour.

The viewing tower on Käskyvuori offers a stunning view of Suomenselkä's undulating forest landscape, misty bogs and Käskylammi pond, which is surrounded by a peatland forest.
