Long distance hiking trails in Romania

The last but one leg of the Via Transilvanica route passes through the enchanting mountainous Banat micro-region, crossing the Semenic - Caraş Gorges National Park and passing by the edge of two other national parks.

Via Transilvanica is the only trail that crosses Romania from NE to SW. It unites different geographical units, historical regions and cultures. 

The segment of the Via Transilvanica trail that covers the Bucovina region. It starts from Putna Monastery and ends at Tătaru. 137 km and 7 days of great natural landscapes. 

The route through Szeklerland starts at Câmpul Cetății, crosses the Sovata-Praid plains from where it continues over the hills of Transylvania, reaching various Szekler village. 

The Highland segment starts at the boarder between Suceava and Bistrița-Năsăud counties and it takes 9 days of walking. It ends at Câmpul Cetății.

The Mehedinți Plateau offers a view worthy of an epic finale of the Via Transilvanica trail. It starts on Cernei Valey and ends after 96km in Drobeta Turnu-Severin.
