The UK has a rich tradition of walking festivals, each include a wide variety of walks. Many are guided by a person with a love of walking and a passion for wildlife, local history or traditions.
To enable more people to discover their part of the world and to give a taster of their festival, organisers from some of the UK’s most popular walking festivals have selected their favourite walks from previous events to share with you. These walks are now available in the Outdooractive app to enjoy as self-guided routes.
As plans for large organised events are very uncertain this year, many of the festivals are smaller than normal or are planning to offer self-guided walks instead.
To support the festivals, Outdooractive has worked with the organisers to put a selection of routes on to its platform, with maps and route guides and suggestions of places to eat and stay. These digital routes can also be displayed on the festival’s own website, if they wish, to make it easier for people to access self-guided routes.
The basic version of the app is free but if you want to see the routes on fully featured Ordnance Survey maps you may wish to upgrade to the pro-version.
If you are an organiser and would like your festival to be featured or need help to put the digital walks on your website, do get in contact.
