Palatinate hikers’ menu
If you hike in the Palatinate, you can expect a hearty feast at the end of the day. Short, relatively flat routes for relaxed or more demanding days out. There are point-to-point trails, even more circular hikes and gentler walks of six to eight kilometres, some of them leading into neighbouring Alsace.
Most trails lead through the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve and Nature Park with its castles and imposing sandstone cliffs. But there are also interesting detours through idyllic vineyards, the striking Donnersberg mountain and riverside forests along the Rhine, or to the mountainscapes of the Palatinate. The ‘Palatinate walkers’ menu’ is the premium walk in the region, covering more than 57 different courses, all excellently signposted paths covering nearly 1,300 kilometres in total.
