Give Apple Health permission
To see your records in the form of "workouts" in the Apple Health app, you must give permission for this data sharing. Our app will ask you for this permission.
Note: If you have already denied permission to Apple Health once, we will not send you another permission request. If this is the case, or if you missed the request, you can go to settings on your iPhone, select "Health", and manually set access.
If you give us access to your data such as height, weight, gender, and age in Apple Health, we can also calculate how many calories you burn during your activities.
Which activity types are saved as 'Workouts'?
Only recorded tracks in the Hiking, Running, and Cycling categories are saved as 'Workouts' in Apple Health. So please pay attention to the selected category when recording your activities with our app.
Good to know
Using the extra sensors (like heart rate) on your Apple Watch when recording helps us to provide you with a better calculation of the number of calories you are burning.
Outdooractive activities and Apple Health Workouts do not correspond to one another:
The Outdooractive activities list is predefined and used to categorize recorded tracks into useful groups that are nominally related to the physical activity involved when recording the track. On Outdooractive, this activity is not selected until the track is finished, which means Apple will not be able to determine what the activity was during the recording. The activity on Outdooractive can also be changed later.
In contrast, Apple Health Workouts are predefined by Apple, which means that it is the selected activity that was actually performed when recording that is considered, such as, for example, "walk". These activities cannot be subsequently changed.
The result of this is that without an Apple Watch, the workouts stored in Apple Health only provide an estimated number of calories since it was not apparent what the activity was during recording. If you have an Apple Watch, you can set the activity type before recording and by doing so the sensors will be configured accordingly in order to measure calories more accurately.
