Culinary delights meet the most beautiful vantage points: the huts in Trentino are the perfect destination for mountaineers, amateur photographers and gourmets. Many of them can be reached comfortably by train, others only after a demanding mountain tour. What they have in common, however, is the rustic charm, the impressive nature and the typical Italian hospitality.

The Trentino Hut Association, in which the Rifugi operators are organized, has a big task. Because it takes a lot of commitment, passion and ingenuity to manage the 146 huts in the region, to maintain them and to look after the paths leading there.

The hut association is supported by the Trentiner Alpenverein, which itself manages 34 rifugi and also takes care of the correct signposting of the hiking trails and the maintenance of around 70 via ferrata.

As a guest you are really spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing one among so many huts. The three categories into which the Trentino huts are divided provide some assistance:

Rifugi Top Gourmet: Gourmets enjoy a mixture of traditional dishes and haute cuisine here. The Rifugio Salei on the Sella Pass or the Rifugio Peller in the Brenta Dolomites are among the finest alpine addresses. Other huts have specifically catered to the culinary needs of their guests, such as the Rifugio Roda di Vaèl in Val di Fassa, where gluten-free dishes are served.

Rifugi Top Panorama: Landscape lovers and hobby photographers enjoy the fantastic view from the hut terraces as well as the fascinating play of weather, sun and clouds over the rocky peaks. One of these rifugios is located on the "Terrace of the Dolomites" - on Sass Pordoi. From the Rifugio Maria you have a truly royal view. From the Rifugio Rosetta you can marvel at the majestic alpine glow at sunset and the 360 ° panorama from the Rifugio Torre di Pisa is worth all the exertions of the climb.

Rifugi Top Aktiv: Alpinists and real mountain lovers use these huts as the basis for demanding tours - whether mountain tours or via ferrata. Unforgettable mountain experiences are offered by the ascent from Andalo or Molveno to the spectacularly situated Rifugio Pedrotti in the Brenta Dolomites. However, if you want to let off steam in the east of Trentino, the Rifugio Antermoia in Val di Fassa is the ideal starting point.
