With 1862 m, the Pico Ruivo is the highest mountain of Madeira and the number one hiking destination for many outdoor enthusiasts. We experience it on the island's highlight route, the round trip from Pico Arieiro. With almost 12 km and 1000 m of altitude difference, the tour can only be mastered with solid fitness. But there is also an easier way: those who start from the Achada do Teixeira reach the destination after 3 km.
