Hiking in Lake Balaton

The highest of the buttes around Balaton rises majestically on the lakeside. It rewards hikers with wonderful views, geological rarities and renowned wines for their effort.

The Blue Trail dives into the woods of Bakony Mountains. After climbing to the peak of Kab-hegy the trail descends into geological past running along the gorge of Úrkút paleokarst.

It s nice afternoon hike for families, who are interested in the great view of the lake Balaton, with a little historical spice. 

The Castle Hill of Sümeg rises above like a beacon of Bakony Mountains as you are leaving it behind heading towards the mountainous sections of the Blue Trail. The flat terrain gradually changes to slopes of Keszthely Mountains and the monotonous paved road joins rocky paths winding under welcome forest shade. The basalt rocks of past volcanic activity guard the peaks like dark rock statues some having castle ruins on the top. At the end of the section life gets vivid as the appeal of Hévíz and Lake Balaton strengthens.

„How much peace and delight and how much to see and learn this land provides…” – wrote geologist Róbert Reichert in 1936. And yes, this is an exceptionally beautiful section of the Blue Trail passing through the land of buttes.

Hosszú, kalandos vándorlás a Bakony harmadik legmagasabb csúcsára és annak környékére, településektől távoli vidéken.

Ez a Kapolcsról induló, több kilátópontot, a Király-kő szikláját érintő és a Fekete-hegy híres belvizes tavait sorra vevő körtúra több forrást és látványos kőzetfeltárásokat is bemutat.

Panorámákkal tűzdelt körtúra a Keszthelyi-hegység dolomit régiójának északkeleti szegletében a katonai kutyatemetőhöz, Vállusszentmiklós elpusztult kolostorához, a Szent Miklós-forráshoz és a Vadlán-lik apró barlangjához.

A Balaton-felvidék talán legszebb patakvölgyébe invitál ez a rövid, mégis sokrétű útvonal. A Koloska-völgy patakcsörgéstől hangulatos, jól kiépített kirándulóhelyének mélyéről a Jókai-kilátóba kapaszkodva csodálhatjuk meg a Balaton panorámáját.

A Badacsony csapott tetejű kúpjának két ellentétes oldali peremét összekötő, panorámákban bővelkedő túra a hegy legfőbb látnivalóit érintve mesél a földtanról, az élővilágról és a hagyományokról.
