The Salpa Trail offers an excellent natural setting for outdoor exercise and refreshment. The Salpa Trail familiarises hikers with both the Salpa Line and the wonderful nature and cultural environment of South-East Finland.

Kotka is called the city of parks in Finland, and for good reason. Kotka has been determined in investing in its parks and they have become one of the city’s unique attractions. In the parks you can sniff the air, admire and listen to your surroundings, exercise, or sit down to take a break at Finland’s largest picnic table. Kotka’s magnificent and award-winning parks offer opportunities for a wide range of experiences.

Salpa Line (Salpalinja) is a monument of Finland’s independence in Hostikka, in southern Lappeenranta. From there, you can set off for the Salpapolku Trail running to Miehikkälä and Virolahti.

Merirosvokapteeni Kaarlo Koukku seilasi Musta Rommi -laivallaan Karibianmereltä Kotkaan. Kun maata oli näkyvissä, otettiin aarrekartta avuksi, mutta laiva karahti karille. Tästä alkaa Kaarlo Koukun ja ihmemummon veistosseikkailu.

The Viitavuoren- Oravakorven route is located in Kitula, Hamina, and is varied in terrain and nature. The highlight of the route is the surroundings of the Viitavuori cave with its magnificent scene.

Kotkalaiset pojat, Pertsa ja Kilu seikkailevat Taavi Vartian saman nimisessä elokuvassa. Elokuva on Kuvattu Kotkassa ja tällä kierroksella pääset tutustumaan kuvauspaikkojen ohella myös elokuvan tekemiseen vaikuttaviin asioihin. Reitin oppaana toimii elokuvan apulaisohjaaja Joona Mielonen, joka itse esitti Pertsaa vuonna 2001 tehdyssä televisiotaltioinnissa.
