Discover together with the children the biotope of the beaver. A short walk, partly along an old, asphalted railway line (RAVeL), where, however, there is much to see. Foresee enough time for this short walk. We (a 4 y/o and a 7 y/o) did it on 2 hours, picknick included…
Few hikes for 4-year-olds are documented. We want to change that with the description of this fantastic route. This hike is barely 1.5 km long. It goes steep uphill and downhill, is not suitable for prams. The woods are accessible. There are rocks to climb over.
4-day hike from the spring to the mouth of the Amblève-river, starting in Büllingen in the 'East cantons' (German speaking part of Belgium) and ending in Rivage where the Amblève flows into the Ourthe.
Beautiful long hike on top and in the middle of the High Fens plateau. Great wide views and space. In wet/misty weather this route can be pretty demanding! Highlights: the Vêcquée trail, Croix de Fiancés, Fagne de Polleur, Fagne Wallonie, Noir Flohai, Geitzbusch, Helle River, Signal de Botrange.

Partly along the longdistance trail GR56 and the Warchetour.
You start the tour at a small parking place at the left side of the road going from Bütgenbach to Elsenborn.
This trail starts at the Moulin du Bayehon, Longfaye and follows 3 valleys untill the source of the Tros Marets river at 600m high. Here you cross one of the most beautifull 'Fagnes' (Fagne Fraineu and Fagne Setai). You end this hike crossing the plateau, entering the Bayehon valley from the north.
Following the "Hill"-river from Eupen to Signal de Botrange, the highest point in Belgium, you have a climb of around 500 m, the most you can get in Belgium. But: don't take this too seriously, with an average of 2% ascent, the "climb" is not that steep...
