In Tuscany you can expect very different forms of landscape - from the "typical" face of Tuscany in the Chianti region to the quiet Maremma to the colorful Crete Senesi. In any case, a stroll through the mountainous landscape of the Garfagnana between the Apuan Alps and the Apennines in the north is worthwhile for hikers. It is nice that the possibilities are supplemented by another, attractive hiking area: the island of Elba. There you can climb Monte Capanne, the highest mountain on the island, or take a scenic hike around Monte Calamita near Capoliveri.

Beautiful route, took me 2,5 hrs. But definitely not suited for families, I would say. Steep ascend and decend, need to be in reasonable shape also.

A really lovely hike, even with rain on the return leg, so a huge 'Thank You' to the person posting it.
There are so many things to see with the granite works, the mill, and the colours of the wild flowers and heather are just delightful.
Add in far reaching and sea views throughout and you have a total winner.
I've posted our walk separately as I wanted to extend and add to it as time goes on, but the credit for it is all Stefan's.
Many thanks
