Hikes in South Glamorgan

A coast to Coast Mountain walk. From Cardiff to Conwy traversing much of the highest, wildest and most scenically beautiful parts of Wales. The route is approximately 479 km (298 miles) with a total ascent of 22,460 m (73,700 ft)

A fine half day walk taking in mixed terrain and some glorious ancient woodland.

A relatively easy hike to the summit of Garth Mountain offering some great views over Cardiff and the countryside of the Vale of Glamorgan.

Start at the car park to Coed-Coesau Whips car park. Take in views of Cardiff and the Severn estuary. Route is very muddy on wet days, lots of up hill climbs.

The Coryton Heritage Trail is a 3.8km loop that takes in Lady Cory Field, the old Cardiff Railway cutting (now a nature reserve), Glamorgan Canal and the Melingriffith Water Pump. The loop can be done in either direction and is on well established flat paths, apart from a couple of very gentle inclines/declines and 2 sets of steps.

Two loops linked by a clifftop path. Can be walked as two separate routes. Excellent sea views, a historic village centre in Llantwit Major and a medieval castle at St Donats followed by the twin lighthouses at Nash Point.

Several routes are available covering the rural Vale and passing the historic Sutton House.

Starting at Cefn Onn Park, cutting off to the side by the main pond, intially some steep uphill walking. There will be a quarry, an old pond, Forest, Rudry Common and near the end of the walk the Ty Mawr Pub.

A longer walk in the Ely valley with a variety of terrains.

Starting from Ystradowen passing through pastoral countryside and returning through the parkland of Talygarn and touching Hensol Forest to the start.
