The first stage of the 100 mile long path starts in the historic city of Winchester with its impressive Gothic cathedral. This is where famous novelist Jane Austen is buried. On a hike through Hampshire you can discover the land that shaped her inspirations, or visit Chawton, where she spent the last eight years of her life.
The day-long hike from Winchester to Warnford will lead you to the picturesque village of Chilcomb and to Beacon Hill, the highest point in Hampshire. From the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the typical English countryside.

For example, a trip to Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Buriton is worth a visit. Walks in New Forest National Park
