How long does it take to walk up the Feldberg? From the valley station of the Feldbergbahn you walk about 1.5 hours to the Feldberg. It also depends on your fitness level. Various hiking trails will take you to the top of the Feldberg.
The best way to get to know the varied landscape around the Höchsten, as the Feldberg is appropriately called, is on the 12-kilometre-long Feldbergsteig trail. Via the 1,448-metre Seebuck, you climb to the top of the Feldberg, the highest point in the Black Forest. From the Feldberg tower there is a fantastic view, and on a clear day you can even see the Alps with Mont Blanc and the Zugspitze. The circular trail takes you past the Sägenbach waterfall and the picturesque Feldsee lake and offers a few places to stop along the way, such as the rustic Zastler Hütte.
On the rocky path to the Feldsee
If you fancy a bit more adventure during your holiday on the Feldberg and are sure-footed, you should hike the 7-kilometre-long Felsenweg.
The wild and romantic hiking trail with winding paths and narrow wooden footpaths lets you experience the rustic nature of the Black Forest up close below the Feldberg. You will walk around almost the entire Feldsee. The more than 300-year-old Raimartihof invites you to take a break and enjoy a good meal along the way.
The Waterfall Trail - From Feldberg to Todtnau
The 12-kilometre-long Wasserfallsteig requires a good level of fitness and takes you from Feldberg down to Todtnauberg. Hikers always follow the course of the Wiese mountain stream, which turns from a small trickle into a bubbling brook along the way.
Next to cattle pastures and idyllic flower meadows, you will pass the imposing Fahler waterfall. The absolute highlight of the hike, however, is the Todtnau waterfall, the highest natural waterfall in Baden-Württemberg. Here, the Stübenbach rushes over several steps a whole 97 metres into the depths and provides a unique backdrop.
Hiking with children on the Feldberg
The area around the Feldberg offers adventurous tours and exciting activities for children. The Resi hiking pass is a great way to keep the young hikers happy: On the hikes, the children collect stamps and can exchange them for a small surprise.
When hiking with children, please note that many paths on the Feldberg are not suitable for prams. If you have children with you who are not yet able to walk, you can borrow a baby carrier in many places.
The Feldberg gnome trail in the Auerhahnwald is a special experience. On this trail, which is about two kilometres long, children set off together with the Wichtel postman in search of the capercaillie Anton. The lovingly designed pixie figures and an interactive story teach children about the forest habitat. In addition to a respectful approach to nature, the little hikers also learn something about the endangered capercaillie on this entertaining round.
On the Wichtel Path we get a diverse insight into the life of the capercaillie and live the story of the Wichtel postman Ferdinand live.
