A steady walk through the trees crossing bridges and following the Routeburn river. The path steepens past Routeburn flats and heads up through Beech forest to Routeburn Falls Hut. Ben Lomond is the peak accessible from central Queenstown. I stayed close enough to go up the access road and come back to town.

On this walk you can just go around Diamond Lake on the lower circuit or walk the upper level circuit which is more strenuous but with a stunning lookout when you reach the top.

Climb up above the treeline and traverse along the exposed Hollyford Face crossing from Fiordland National Park into Mount Aspiring National Park.
