Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands are located in the northwest of the country and form the Scotland of the imagination with mountains, the so-called Munros, treeless moors, and lakes, the so-called Lochs, wide skies and unique culture. The area is divided by the Great Glen into the Northwest Highlands and the Grampian Mountains. The historic region is sparsely populated, making it ideal for outdoor holidays.

The Highlands, named in distinction to the Lowlands, are known for their clans and whisky production, in addition to the breathtaking landscape. Culturally, the original character of the area has been preserved more than in other parts of Scotland, as English influence was less pronounced here. In the Highlands, you will find the largest national park and with Ben Nevis (1345 m) the highest mountain in Great Britain. Also to be found here is Loch Ness, known for its monster, which attracts many tourists.
