Southern pulsating and yet alpine: the region Wörthersee-Rosental
The Wörthersee-Rosental region is located in the hilly landscape of the border triangle of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Shielded from the northern Alps, the south-west weather conditions ensure a pleasant, almost Mediterranean climate. Here you can enjoy a wonderful Dolce Vita feeling at any time of year.
Leave the hustle and bustle and routine of everyday life behind - at Lake Wörthersee this is possible from sunrise to sunset: Go for a swim or do some water-skiing early in the morning, hike along the Wörthersee circular trail up to the world's highest wooden lookout tower on the Pyramidenkogel, enjoy numerous events, holiday feelings at the beach club directly on the lake and visit sights with your whole family.
The idyllic alpine landscape of the Rosental in the heart of the Karawanken offers impressive nature experiences such as the Draupaddelweg, regional culinary delights and varied family leisure fun such as a visit to the Pyramidenkogel lookout tower.
Especially at spring awakening, when the days get longer and warmer, the region is ideal to enjoy its benefits. With the onset of spring, you can once again experience Lake Wörthersee from a different perspective: from the water! The season for boat trips starts: You can enjoy the first sunny days on a boat tour. Numerous other sights, such as the Minimundus miniature world in Klagenfurt, also reopen in spring.
Hiking around Lake Wörthersee
Here you can find the slow down after the high life. At Lake Wörthersee you will find peace and quiet, sinking into the pleasant rhythm of walking - just right for all those who want to experience more than just a walk, but don't want to climb high alpine paths.
Here, varied hiking trails lead you along sun-drenched lakeside promenades, through green forests, across moors and a gentle hilly landscape - and back home you go by boat.
Those who like it higher and more challenging visit the idyllic alpine Rosental with the imposing Karawanken. Both pleasure hikers and sporty, ambitious hikers will get their money's worth on the hiking trail network of around 400 kilometres. So pack your rucksack, lace up your hiking boots and discover the dolce vita side of hiking.
Would you like to go a little farther? If you don't want to be out and about for just a few hours, but rather for a few days, the region around Lake Wörthersee has a special treat in store for you: long-distance hiking trails.
The Wörthersee circular hiking trail in particular offers a fantastically beautiful and varied landscape and takes you around the picturesque lake in four-day stages over 55 kilometres and 1,400 metres of altitude. Especially the Pirkerkogel, the Hohe Gloriette, the Zillhöhe and the Trattnigteich invite you to linger - and there is no way around a detour to the Pyramidenkogel anyway.
On the Panorama Trail Southern Alps, you discover the sunny side of long-distance hiking at 280 kilometres and 17,700 metres of altitude. You will hike through the mystical Karawanken in the Rosental, be inspired by the deep blue sea eye in the fairytale Bodental and find strength in the far-reaching views from majestic mountain peaks.

Gravel Bike & Lost Places - Pleasure Gravel and Shared Culture
Scene insiders describe the Wörthersee-Rosental region as easy but varied terrain: crisp climbs up to the tree line, rapid descents on wide trails and many lakes with drinking water quality are constant companions on the routes. Here you can enjoy the landscape at pleasant temperatures and with plenty of sunshine from as early as the end of March.
Lost places are also an integral part of the routes: places with a sometimes dark past that serve as silent memorials in some places and are popular destinations for excursions in others. Gravel bikes are a great way to discover these almost forgotten places - a great combination of sport and culture.
