One of Somerset’s cultural highlights is definitely the Glastonbury Festival. Music-lovers from all over the world travel to a farm near Pilton to celebrate contemporary music from various genres. The festival also hosts dance, comedy and theatre performances. In 1970, the first time the festival was held, 1,500 visitors attended the event and now over 200,000 people are expected - so get your tickets early!

The coast and the Exmoor National Park, in general, is also a great place for climbers - and many other outdoor sports. With 64 km (40 mi) of the coast, 95 watercourses, numerous reservoirs and lakes, Somerset is ideal for exploring by boat. The 23 km (14 mi) long Bridgewater and Taunton Canal is perfect for trying canoeing in Somerset.

Good views and strategic seating enroute. Hill climb at start on first off road part, thereafter a downward walk except for Montacute Castle stretch, this can be avoided if desired but good views to be had at the summit. Good afternoon stroll.
