Mehedinți is a county in the regions of Oltenia and Banat, southwestern Romania. Drobeta-Turnu Severin is the capital of the county. The tourist potential of Mehedinți county is formed by the grandiose landscape formed by the Danube River and its gorge, by the diversity of the relief in the mountain area, by the existence of special floristic and faunistic elements, many of which are included in scientific reserves.

Besides natural reservations, there are impressive testimonies of a millennium past, expressed by a series of historical, architectural and art monuments, some unique in their value and their very own.
The municipality of Drobeta Turnu Severin, through its position, at the exit of the Danube into the parade, but also because of its numerous social-historical and cultural objectives, it could be a polarizing center of the mehedinthene tourism industry.
The main important tourist objectives are:
- The ruins of Traian's bridge (bridge built between the Dacian wars carried by Emperor Traian against Decebal in 105 b.C.)
- Drobeta military camp (built in the same period as Traian's bridge)
- The ruins of the medieval church set near the Roman camp.
- In the southern part of the municipality, on the bank of the Danube, there is the monument building of the Iron Gates Museum, with sections of history, archeology, ethnography, natural sciences and a special aquarium.
The main tourist areas of the county, outside the municipality of Drobeta Turnu Severin are the Iron Gates I with the Danube defile, "Clisura" with large and small Boilers gorges ("Cazane"), the reservoirs, the hydropower and navigation system, many viaducts built over wild valleys, the municipality of Orșova, which was carried out as an amphitheater on the banks of Cerna Bay and above it the Sfânta Ana Monastery.
The northern part of the county, characterized by the beauty of the landscape. Here is the town of Baia of Aramă where you can visit the Church of the voivodes, erected in Byzantine style and painted in the 17th century.
