Spain, a cornucopia of natural pearls
As Spain combines a wide variety of different types of landscape, fans of demanding climbing tours in the high mountains will get their money's worth just as much as water sports enthusiasts, cyclists or skiers. The highest peaks of the country are in the Pyrenees, the Sierra Nevada and on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
However, the Picos de Europa, a national park with a breathtaking mountain panorama, should not be underestimated. Spain is of international importance for hiking tourism, not least because of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela, which offers several routes. But also the Balearic island Mallorca is a very popular hiking area.
Sights of international standing
Thanks to many preserved testimonies of the past, active holidays in Spain can also be very well combined with culture. World-famous historical sites such as the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, the Alhambra in Granada or the Palacio Real in Madrid are located here. Cities such as Seville, Malaga and Valencia are also among the most popular destinations.
In addition to cultural richness, however, travellers will also find an inexhaustible selection of natural treasures, such as the El Teide National Park on Tenerife, the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote or the Sierra Nevada National Park.
Spanish cuisine
Spain can boast of a variety of delicious dishes and is therefore rightly praised as a culinary paradise. However, this is not only due to the most common dishes such as paella or tortilla. Equally important are the famous Serrano ham, the cold vegetable soup Gazpacho and of course the tapas.
There are also some drinks of Spanish origin, which are also very popular outside the country. Be it the Tempranillo from La Rioja, the Valencian Horchata (almond milk) or the classic freshly squeezed orange juice.
However, as Spain's cuisine varies according to region and province, a culinary tour through this sun-drenched country is highly recommended.
