Gentle hilly landscape and witnesses of time
While the German-speaking canton borders Baden-Württemberg and Schaffhausen in the north, the cantons of St. Gallen and Zürich join it in the south. Compared to other cantons, Thurgau is rather flat, with its highest elevation on the ridge near Fischingen reaching just 991 m.
The main town of Thurgau is located in the south of the canton.
The canton's capital is the town of Frauenfeld, which is home to numerous historic buildings such as the castle tower and the town hall. Throughout Thurgau there are more than 40 historical sites, such as the late Roman fort of Ad Fines or the medieval ruins of Neuburg Castle.
