Begin at the church and proceed in a westerly direction along the "Wetzsteinweg" to Acheleschwaig
. Shortly before reaching Acheleschwaig, you will once again meet an asphalt road on which you turn right.
As you pass through the hamlet of Acheleschwaig, the street leads steeply down to the River Ammer. Please note: leave your bike here if you intend to take a diversion to the "Scheibum" Ravine. A footway leads to the "Scheibum" from the bridge in a downstream direction.
Over the course of the centuries, the water of the Ammer has created a natural spectacle.
Returning to the Ammer Bridge on foot, you will see the "Kammerl" power station, built in 1904, opposite you. Its turbines have been working reliably since as long ago as 1905 to convert the water power of the Ammer into electrical energy, and it provides the necessary current for the railway line between Murnau and Oberammergau.
Return via the same road through the hamlet of Acheleschwaig. This time, however, continue straight ahead for about 300 meters and turn off in a southerly direction towards Altenau at a small pond on your right. Continue along a narrow cartway through dense woodland to reach Altenau.
Keep left at the reservoir and cycle the 2 kilometres back to Saulgrub on the local road.
