Wonderful round tour in the outskirts of Šibenik, with many interesting points to visit.
The tour is valuable due to:
> beautiful nature, > great views, > the cave of Sv. Ante, > the underground bunker for military ships, > interesting army barracks, > the huge Venetian fort (16th century), > nice beaches, > two shallow lakes.
For sure do visit the cave, bunker and the fortress. The above time is for biking only, for sight seeing the places allow at least 1 h or 1 h 30 min more!
Best time of year
If you decide to ride also the steepest sections (despite the prohibition), take care of hikers and take care of your own safety! The concrete track is fine, but the terrain left and right is dangerously rocky (helmet!)!
Can be an ordinary bike, or a mountain bike.
Tips, hints and links
If you want to see also Šibenik, you can visit it also by bike - better than by car. Also, you can extend biking from Zablaće a bit more towards the SE.

Parking place S of Šibenik
You can start the tour on many places, the best option is to park along the coast south of Šibenik.
You start riding by a narrow road along the coast towards the NW. Past the Lukoil gas station the road gets even more narrow, then you reach the entry into the nature parc. From there follow the plates left, steeply uphills. You gain quite some altitude, then a more gentle section leads you past the nice Vila Moj mir. Then another steep section brings you just on the highest panoramic point. Great view on the channel and on Šibenik town!
Then a steep descent is awaiting you. (Formally, it's forbidden to ride a bike on the steepest sections, due to safety and hikers.) The next panoramic point is a bit less attractive, but when you pass it, you immediately reach the place where it's worth stopping.
Down the biking/hiking tracks you will see staircases descending. Leave the bike above and go down on foot. The first place to visit is the small cave church of Sv. Ante. At first, hermits were living there, in the Middle Ages a small church was erected, recently the place was quite ruined by military. Then you descend again to the sea shore and continue around the corner. A short tunnel will bring you to the fascinating bunker for ships - a 150 m long tunnel with two exits. It is called Hitler's eyes and was made by the German army, during the World War II. Later it was used by Yougoslav army.
Then you continue biking - all the time along the coast. You pass a big complex of military barracks and finally reach the Škar bay, where the road comes from the other side and ends. Continue biking by a wooden bridge on the nearby island, leave bikes there and continue on foot by the isthmus to the huge Venetian fort. In March 2019 it was in the process of renovation, but entry was free to everyone. Great military monument, under the protection of UNESCO!
From the fort, you return to the road and then continue by it in the SE direction. You can either continue by the main asphalt road, or you can stick to the biking track, which before the lake of Mala Solina deters right, goes to Zablaće and then back on the road. Then you can also either detour the Velika Solina lake, or simply ride on by the main road. It soon starts turning gently left and you return to the outskirts of Šibenik.
