Earnslaw Burn Valley is one of the most spectacular alpine valleys in the Southern Alps - it's around the corner from Paradise (seriously).
The track is mainly through forest alongside the Earnslaw Burn river (you guessed it) and at the end of the valley there is an amazing clearing, with a few waterfalls.
The tramp is reasonably easy, however the track can be hard to find (I got properly lost - as you can see), so watch out for the markers.
Follow the track from the corner on Lovers Leap Road. There is only really one track, a bit hard to find in places, so follow the markers.
The main part of the track will be through forest and bush ... at the end of the valley you will be "rewarded" with an amazing clearing, water- and / or icefalls included (depending on the season).
River crossing and route finding experience is essential!
Make sure you follow the markers and don't loose the track due to fallen trees and creek crossings - I did, it wasn't fun!
