Cova de Paul - Pico da Cruz - Cidade das Pombas

Take an aluguer from Ribeira Grande to Cova for 300 CVE.
From Cova walk on the narrow road until you reach the little village of Cova d' Engenheiro. The way up to the Pico de la Cruz is a bit hidden, it starts on the stairs right side of the grey forest ranger house (go through the little gate) at the square opposite to the bar. Return to this place after having visited the summit.

Walk the road down for 100 metres and turn left on a broad path. First the path remains on the same level, later it becomes a steep descent. You can't miss the path as it is broad and mostly made of cobblestone.
Sometimes there is no path in the Open Source map as the map lacks accuracy but the path exists!

Further down after crossing the creek turn left and climb up to the first houses of Eito village. Between the houses follow the blue - yellow signs until you reach the road. Walk down the road until Cidade das Pombas.

Count with 6 hours walking time. This is a challenging walk that includes overall 900 m of ascent and 2100 m of descent. Wear sturdy footwear and take enough food and at least 3 litres os water with you.
