A chance to find out more about the sites where World War One was fought here along the Dolomite Front. A visit to Monte Piana is a chance to explore the trenches, tunnels, huts and check points in which Italian and Austrian soldiers fought each other from just a few metres apart. You can get to Monte Piana on foot or by shuttle bus and it is an extraordinary Great War open-air museum with 360 degree views of the most beautiful peaks in the Dolomites. Stop off for a meal or break at Rifugio Bosi where you can visit its World War One museum. From here continue on the Great War route to Cortina and Passo Falzarego where you can visit one of the most interesting and fascinating Great War museums in the Dolomites. At Sass di Stria you can take a look at the many museum exhibits and find out about the events of World War One and their impact on Cortina d’Ampezzo town from 1915 to 1918.
